Do you have a dream? No, not the kind you wake up from in the middle of the night, or ones you just can't seem to remember in the morning.
I'm talking DREAM, you know the 'big' one, or maybe the big ONES that you haven't seem to achieve yet.
(I'm not really shouting at you, but this is important stuff!)
Listen, life is shorter than we realize (even a hundred years can fly by if it's not spent wisely), so we have to give it meaning. Now here's my confession: I didn't know that. Seriously, over the years I've put my dreams on hold to satisfy someone else's. No, it's not a martyr complex, and it was well intentioned. In fact, some of it was unavoidable: When Uncle Sam came along and said "I want you!"; he was serious. (As an aside, we got 58,000 dead boys and I get to buy T-shirts stamped 'made in Vietnam' - not a great trade for three years of my life. And an even worse ending for the parents of those boys.)
So here I am (you can tell from the Vietnam reference that this 'Kid' has a few years on him) and I have dreams that are yet unfulfilled. To be honest, I thought I'd put them away forever, like a box on the top shelf of a closet, gathering dust, waiting to be discarded.
And then, one day last summer, I saw something with new eyes. (I'm not going to tell you what I saw - that would be like telling you my birthday wish as I blow out the candles on the cake: Kiss that wish goodbye!), but, ZAP! KAPOW!, dream city here we come!
Now, if you believe in the "Resurrection" ie. life after death, then you'll understand. Oh, I can't tell you ALL the things I see in my future, but I will tell you this: if I were twenty again, life couldn't be more exciting.
What's your dream?
